After much hype and waiting, the Taiwan-based electronics giant Asus, has finally come up in India with its new smartphone called Zenfone Live at a price of Rs. 9999. Touted as a smartphone that has the ‘world’s first live streaming beautification technology’, Asus Zenfone Live is loaded with a beauty app that will give its users the convenience of customizing their overall looks by removing the blemishes while live-streaming themselves in social media sites, Not only that, the phone also promises to have dual MEMs microphones for clearer voice quality, along with a new 5-magnet speaker for enhanced audio performance.
Talking about Asus as a brand, it needs no introduction to identifying itself as one of the world’s most valued electronic brand. With the tag of being a company that has made laptops considered amongst the best in the world, Asus is one of those few electronic companies whose stature can be considered to the likes of Samsung and Apple.
In fact, before Chinese smartphone player Xiaomi created ripples in the Indian market through its low-budget and high-quality smartphones, Asus had already made its entry into the Indian smartphone segment with its Zenfone 4, 5 and 6 at a price unimaginable for any Indian consumer at that point of time. And today in 2018, Asus has come ahead of many of its counterparts in the smartphone market although it is worth mentioning that Xiaomi still holds an unparallel space in the hearts and minds of millions of smartphone users in India.
Coming back to Asus Zenfone Live, apart from being a smartphone with a beauty app, the phone’s specs are not something that will please many customers and that too at a point of time when Xiaomi and Lenovo are providing impeccable specs in its smartphones in the sub-10k segment.
Available in Navy Black, Rose Pink, and Shimmer Gold colors, Asus Zenfone Live has a premium build quality with sandblasted metallic finish that gives the phone a good elegant look.
Asus Zenfone Live has a 5-inch 720p IPS LCD display.
This I have to say that Asus Zenfone Live has made a disappointing choice of going ahead with a much older quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor. Clocked at a speed of 1.2 GHz and Adreno 306 GPU, Snapdragon 410 is considered as one of the company’s not so fast and inefficient processor.
Other than the live beautification app, Asus Zenfone Live comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 5-megapixel front snapper with a 1.4-micron pixel sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 82-degree wide angle lens, and a soft-light LED flash.
Asus Zenfone Live has 2650 mah battery which is really not apt for powering the phone for a full day on a single charge even if the usage is moderate enough.
Apart from the above features, Asus Zenfone Live has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB Internal storage and runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.
Better to avoid this one and wait for a phone with the live beautification app especially from Xiaomi or Lenovo.
